 THE STATE ACCOUNTANT GENERAL KEEPS THE PROMISE MADE AT LAFIA/OBESSA WARD IN OKENE, KOGI STATE.


In swift fulfillment of her promise, the State Accountant General, Chief (Dr.) Hajia Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumoko, has responded decisively to the long-standing environmental concerns of the Lafia/Obessa Ward in Okene, Kogi State.




During her recent visit to the ward, residents made a passionate appeal, drawing her attention to the sewage canal running through the community which had, over time, degenerated into a dump site. The canal’s poor condition had become unbearable due to its severe adverse effects, which included: Offensive odour that polluted the air and made daily life uncomfortable, Health risks such as the potential spread of cholera, typhoid, and other water-borne diseases, Blocked water flow, leading to flooding during the rainy season.


Moved by the plight of the people, Chief (Dr.) Hajia Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumokoswiftly ordered and oversaw the complete excavation and removal of dumped refuse along the sewage canal. This prompt intervention has restored free water flow, improved sanitation, and brought great relief to the residents.


The entire Lafia/Obessa Ward expressed their deep appreciation to the State Accountant General for listening to their cry and acting without delay. They described her as a leader who not only listens but also delivers on her promises.


In their words of gratitude, community members offered earnest prayers for God to continue to strengthen and guide her in her service to humanity.


While rejoicing over this intervention, they also appealed for the construction of a modern drainage system to permanently control and channel the canal’s flow, thereby ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.


With this action, Chief (Dr.) Hajia Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumoko has once again demonstrated that leadership is not about position, but about responsibility, compassion, and tangible results.

Examination 2025: Over 60 Students scored above 200 while over 12 Student Scored above 300 At LGEA Demonstration Standard College Onyukoko, Okene, Kogi State.


The management of Demonstration Standard College Onyukoko, Okene is pleased to announce the remarkable performance of its students in the recently concluded Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. Our students have once again demonstrated academic excellence, recording some of the highest scores in Kogi State, and setting a benchmark for public schools across the nation.


Speaking on this laudable achievement, the Principal of the College, Mallam Rufai Isah, expressed profound joy and pride in the dedication, discipline, and commitment of the students and teaching staff. According to him, this outstanding result is not a coincidence but a reflection of the school's consistent investment in quality learning, Teaching and a culture of excellence.


Mallam Rufai also used the opportunity to commend the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support and commitment to the education sector. “The Governor’s passion for education and the strategic investments made in public schools across the state have continued to yield tangible results. We are grateful for his leadership and vision,” he stated.


He further reiterated his belief that public schools, when given the right support and resources, can compete favorably and even outperform their private counterparts. “What our students have achieved is proof that with proper attention, public schools can  lead in academic excellence,” he added.

Kogi State NYCN Inaugurates New Executives in LGAs


...electoral exercise conducted in substantial compliance with the constitution of the NYCN, says Leader Opotu



The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter has inaugurated new executives in 18 local government areas.


During the inauguration, the NYCN state chairman, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale empowered the new executives to steer the affairs of the council in their respective local government areas for the next four years.


Comr Benjamin charged the new executives to prioritise the well-being of youths in their various local government areas over personal interests, and promote growth and development.


The State Chairman also announced 3 member Committee to work with his office in the interim. The committee members are Comr. Isah Shaibu Danlami to serve as Chairman, Comr. Oshatimehin Samuel Ekundayo to serve as Secretary and Comr. Yakubu Onuya Ahmed to serve as the Treasurer of the Committee.

 

The new local government Coordinators emerged from elective congresses of the NYCN held in each of the local government area.


The move aims to provide inclusive, equitable and effective youth leadership in the state following the expiration of the tenure of the former local government Coordinators. 


The Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Mr Monday Anyebe in his speech, charged the newly elected youth leaders to provide innovative, impactful and exemplary leadership in their various local government areas.


He tasked them on transparency, accountability, and inclusivity while urging them to promote peace, cohesion and youth development as they assume their new roles.


Also speaking at the event was the pioneer chairman of the Council in the state, Elder Haruna Opotu. He explained that the electoral exercise was conducted in substantial compliance with the constitution of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.


While congratulating the new Coordinators, he enjoined them to work with the present administration of governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to attract more meaningful development to their local government areas.
