INSIDE LATEST EDITION OF ROUND UP

Two remarkable events defined the week. Both of them are a measure of the steady progress that is being recorded in Nasarawa state under Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.

First, a group of secondary school students from the state; public secondary school I must add, went to a national schools debate competition and came tops! It was their very first outing in a competition started in 1994.

The winning team and their handlers brought the Trophy home and presented the same to a very proud Governor Sule at the Government House, Lafia.

While the euphoria lasts, it is worthy of note that this success is a reflection of the reforms and investment of the Sule administration in the education sector.

26 and 35 percent budgetary allocations went to the education sector in the governor’s first two years in office.

Equally reassuring is the endorsement by the management of the Zik prize for leadership. On Sunday November 7th, Governor Abdullahi Sule received the Zik award for “good governance” 2020.

The Governor in company of the Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the Emir of Lafia, justice Sidi Bage Rtd. and other prominent sons and daughters of Nasarawa state were at the Eko Hotel, venue of this year's award ceremony.

In honoring Governor Sule, the judges looked at inclusivity, transparency and unparalleled investment drive as some of the criteria.

On one level, a recognition by the organizers of the 26 year old prestigious award is a clear testimony that the leadership in Nasarawa state is on the right course.

On the second, it is a motivation for the servant leader to redouble efforts in achieving his lofty objectives for the state.

Congratulations to the people’s Governor. Things can only get better!
